| Penticton & District Community Resources Society, a "not-for-profit" society, is governed by a Board of Directors elected from the community.
It has a history of researching community needs, bringing together groups of individuals to help solve community problems, disseminating information and developing programs which improve the quality of life of people in Penticton. The Society, through its Community Services Office, currently acts as an administrative umbrella for 18 programs and more than 100 staff.
Penticton & District Community Resources Society registered as a society in 1966, using the name Penticton Health & Welfare. The name was later changed to Penticton & District Social Planning Society, with the Society's current title being selected in 1986 to reflect the broad range of programs it now offers. There are services for individuals of all ages and a great variety of needs. Programs are funded through contracts with the Ministry of Children & Family Development, School District #67 and other government agencies, with user fees and by donations from individuals and community groups. |
